Two main types of headaches can occur: tension headaches and migraine headaches. Both of these types of headaches cause pain in your head and/or neck. However, while tension headaches typically affect the entire head, migraine headaches are usually concentrated on one side of the head. In addition, the pain from a migraine headache is usually more severe than the pain from a tension headache, and migraine headaches often cause other symptoms in addition to pain.
Dr. Osborne offers treatment for both migraine headaches and tension headaches.
Tension headaches usually develop because of stress. Migraine headaches, on the other hand, are more complicated. They’re believed to be the result of changes in the way your trigeminal nerve interacts with your brainstem. Certain triggers may also contribute to the development of a migraine, such as hormonal changes or weather changes.
Several different treatment options available from Coastal Healthcare Partners may be effective for migraine management. Some of the treatments Dr. Osborne may recommend more or more of the following:
In some cases, Dr. Osborne may recommend physical therapy to patients with headaches as well.
Every patient is different. To ensure that you get the best results, Dr. Osborne will customize your treatment plan to meet your needs. In many cases, treatment plans include more than one type of therapy or treatment.
Some patients who come to Coastal Healthcare Partners because of headaches will see an improvement in their symptoms right away, while others will need a few sessions before results appear. As you continue the treatment process, you’ll see increased improvement over time.
